Is the Unix shell ready for XML?XML is here to stay, but the classic Unix shell is still plain text oriented. This essay proposes a suite of XML processing tools with the Unix shell "look and feel". The aim is to retrofit a natural set of XML capabilities, without forcing people to change their shell, learn a new scripting language or use dedicated purpose software. |
